Aquaculture

Aquaculture is the farming or husbandry of aquatic organisms under controlled or semicontrolled conditions. It is regarded as a means of reducing fishing pressure on marine fisheries resources and meeting increasing demands for fish and fishery products via cultural methodologies. Commercial aquaculture is being promoted through the provision of a package of incentives that would encourage investment in the sector, increase production capacity and stabilize or reduce the price of fish.
