UWI Annual Report 2010/2011

In line with the mandate to expand access to under-served communities, 2011 saw the expansion of face-to-face offerings in Tobago, including the introduction of the much sought-after International Masters in Business Administration, which has the potential to impact students as well as the business community on the island. In early 2012, preliminary work began on constructing the UWI St. Augustine Campus in Debe/Penal. Upon its projected completion in late 2013, this addition will go a long way to meet the growing demand for tertiary education.

In the 2010/2011 academic year, the campus registered a one-third increase in the enrolment of graduate students pursuing research degrees. Even more importantly, a significant part of the research is now focused on finding solutions to challenges being faced by the region. In addition, the relevance of these research projects facilitates the forging of new working partnerships with the local and regional private sectors.
