Quarterly Standard International Trade Classification (SITC)

The SITC, or Standard International Trade Classification, is a system created by the United Nations (UN) to help keep track of global trade. It lets countries compare trade statistics for products like goods and manufactured items. Like the Harmonized System (HS), the SITC uses a standardized coding system to organize traded goods. What makes it different from the Harmonized System is that it focuses on what a product is used for and how it contributes to the economy rather than just what it's made of. The United Nations Statistical Commission (UNSC) updates and maintains these classifications.

The SITC divides products into Sections, which are further divided into Divisions and Groups for more detailed classification.
